Pratica Fit Review: We have a detailed look at the latest entrant to the high speed oven market

Pratica Fit Review: Where does it fit in the UK market?

Following on from the recent news that FEM are now the UK Importer for the Pratica Fit, we were invited down to the Parts Town test kitchen in Cannock for a presentation. Our Pratica FIT Review looks at it in more detail. The Pratica oven Range has taken South America by storm with huge sales across the continent. Initially 3 Pratica ovens will be available in the UK: The SM (a 13A), The ST (stackable) and a dual magnetron version of the Fit for high use locations.

You can see our full interview with Development Chef Nathan Osbourne here. For our Pratica Fit review he is keen to highlight what a difference the removable catalytic converter can make. The vast majority of high speed ovens do not respond well to cooking raw protein. However, with the ability to take out the catalytic converter this changes that. For a lot of sites that may cook 2-3kg of products like a bacon per day this could be the deciding factor. We stayed behind at the end of the demonstration day and watched the clean the oven quite easily. This is after it had been Coen cooking burgers, chicken, prawns and fish!

Practica FIT

One good trick employed by Nathan was using a 2nd tray on top of the salmon to cover it. This not only diffuses the heat but also helps to keep the moisture stay locked into the fish.

We also had a brief introduction to the Pratica “IOK”. The “Internet of Kitchen” is native software to the Pactica ovens that easily allow for recipe management. 1024 recipes can be stored on the ovens and many more on the software. We like the ability to easily add in and remove the recipes with the software which is free to use. For comparison the software for the Panasonic SCV3 is also free to use; Merrychef’s Kitchen Connect is free for the first 12 months and then £15 per month after.

Service & Warranty

The Pratica Range of ovens will come with 2 years parts and 1 years labour. FEM were keen to emphasise that there is a good supply of spare parts in the UK and service times will match the 48 hour call out periods of competitor brands. If this is the case then in our opinion the Pratica could be a very good option.

The price point combined with its unique cooking abilities certainly make it a unique option in the market.
